If you’re in Vancouver check out the Prototypes OPENING TONIGHT 7-11 at the Burnkit Studio: 397 Alexander Street. Running alongside IDS West (September 29 – October 2) the design heads of Vancouver Niels Bendtsen  (Bensen and Inform), Omer Arbel (Bocci), Battersby & Howat, Killam & Sproule (Red Flag Design), and Lukas Peet investigate the process of design through the practice of prototyping. It’s up until the 1st, go for me, okay?

10th Annual Street Furniture Competition // M.A.D.E. Edmonton

M.A.D.E’s 10th Annual Street Furniture Competition drew 16 teams to battle it out in the rain at the Works Festival in Edmonton. Using donated materials from local businesses such as Alberta Woodworks and the University of Alberta’s climbing department the designs varied in utility, intention, and playfulness. Colin Clark, Jenna Hill, and Michael Rivest’s ’love bench’ creates a charming setting for two, or a comfortable spot for one to gaze upwards.
