Edmonton Royal Bison Craft Fair

November 29th, 2010

The Royal Bison Craft Fair is held bi-annually in Edmonton and sells small items handmade by an impressive roster of established and up and coming artists and designers. The show, originally founded by Raymond Biesinger, is now in its third year and is currently headed by Jeanie Andronyk, Josh Holinaty, and Vikki Wiercinski. Showcasing local small scale productions and limited runs these fairs have a nice range of familiar and experimental projects. Here are some shots but check out the website (Royal Bison) for the full line-up!

Nickelas Johnson‘s cribbage boards (above) embue a Davy Crockett-like nostalgic playfulness. A cork ensures players pegs are safely stowed inside the solid pine boards. The material usage is perfect for the shoot’em up cowboy and indian motif. There’s something really great about buying an object that you feel like you’ve had forever.

Vikki Wiercinski‘s yearly planners and tea towels are nice backdrops for her killer illustrations.

Zine-Age Angst 2$ carbon copied zines.

Jill Stanton‘s illustrations and prints.

The Kids are Alright Student Design Association, currated by Andrea Foht

Fish Griwkowsky‘s 3D photographs.

Teng Chong‘s graphite rubbings collection.
Kelsey Arndt’s Eleven Plus One cufflinks and earrings.
